Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 June 2026.

steps.org is built around keeping as little as possible. This policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and who processes it. The service is operated by Pipedesk OÜ, a company registered in Estonia, which acts as the data controller. See also our Terms of Service.

The short version

  • Your weigh-in photo is verified in the moment and never stored.
  • Only the most recent weight reading is kept, and it's never shared — not even with your accountability partner.
  • Your partner never sees your weight and is texted only if you cancel or switch them out.

What we collect

  • Account: your sign-in details, handled by our authentication provider (Clerk).
  • Timezone: so your timer and reminders line up with your day.
  • Billing: handled by Stripe — we don't store your card details.
  • Weigh-in photos: captured live in the app and processed in the moment to verify you're on the scale and to read the number. The image is not retained.
  • Most recent weight reading: kept just for you, to show your latest number.
  • Partner phone number: if you add an accountability partner, so we can text them when required.

Sub-processors

  • Clerk — authentication.
  • Stripe — payments and billing.
  • Textbelt — sending SMS (reminders, partner alerts, verification codes).
  • Vision model (via OpenRouter → Anthropic) — verifies the weigh-in photo and reads the dial; the image is processed in-request and not retained.
  • Cookieless analytics — privacy-friendly, aggregate usage only; no cross-site tracking cookies.

Your rights and deletion
