# Steps

> Steps (steps.org) is an AI gratitude-journaling companion that lives in Apple Messages (iMessage). One journal per day: two questions, at the time you choose — mornings by default. A deliberately simple AI whose only job is keeping you consistent. Tagline: "Your last gratitude journal."

Key facts:

- Journaling happens in iMessage — there is no app to install. The web at steps.org is read-only: full history, trends and stats, and plan management. You can't journal there.
- The two daily questions are fixed: "What are you grateful for today?" and "What are you grateful for in life?"
- The AI does four things only: opens one journal a day and asks the two questions, texts you at your chosen time, computes trends and stats, and answers questions about your practice. It never analyzes your life, offers advice, or tells you how to feel.
- Every account starts with a 30-day free trial, no card required. After that: $5/month or $38/year (€4.60 / €35). A gift year is a one-time purchase of $38 (€35). If you don't subscribe, every journal you wrote stays readable and exportable at steps.org.
- Entries are encrypted, never used to train models, never sold, and never read by a human. For the AI to reply, a language model briefly processes your words in plaintext, in memory, on our servers — cleared the moment your journal is saved.
